Thousands of students seek admission in the prestigious institution for pursuing a career in engineering but only the lucky few get a chance to enter UET as students. These students spend 4-5 years on campus, making memories and seeking knowledge. These 4-5 years spent here make an ever lasting impression on the brains of the students.
The educational year mainly starts in September and ends in May. Start of the educational year is mainly marked by the memorable incidents of ragging by the senior students. The ragging is short sessions of harmless yet entertaining tasks being completed by the freshmen on the order of their seniors.
UET offers a huge campus with state of the art facilities like labs, class rooms, lecture theatres and studios. UET has spacious classrooms which provide the students a chance to study in a spacious environment. Labs are equipped with the latest instruments, equipment, computers and machinery. Lecture theatres are spacious and are provided with multimedia for interactive study sessions. Studios are equipped with drafting tables to provide the students a comfortable setup for technical drawing.
UET also has the honour of housing a state of the art library i.e. National Library of Engineering sciences. The library is going through significant improvements such as computerization of its services. It is housed in a three storey building with a peaceful, air conditioned atmosphere for its members.
UET has ample provisions for hostel accommodation. It has 14 halls of residence for boys with accommodation for about 3000 students. 4 halls are also specified for girls with accommodation of almost 550 students. The halls reflect the history of the institution through variations in the architectural styles over the last three quarter of the century. Some of the halls are of the pre-independence period, inherited from former Maclagan College of Engineering whereas others are built over a period of half a century since the institution became university in 1961.
Students spend a large time, during their educational journey in UET, in cafeterias. The campus offers a number of cafeterias, each of them famous for their special food. Students of UET are often found enjoying these cafeteria specialities, indulging themselves in the great taste of the food. PANGA is an iconic drink provided at the Annexe block of UET. Lalazar and extension are famous for their fries, burgers and sandwiches. BSSC, GSSC and United Cafeteria are also famous cafeterias
More than (X) societies are operating in UET, which organize different events each year, some of the events are a way of receiving the new comers with a warm welcome
Other events comprise of seminars, technical activities, exhibitions, creative arts and entertainment functions like plays, musical concerts, mushairas etc.
UET holds a unique spot among other universities because of its diverse culture. UET is a multicultural institute with students from all over Pakistan, overseas and foreign students.
